Hi guys... Dean (member LiveBeyond) is the Victorian distributor of the BYAP kits and components... tanks and growbeds etc...

They are not only aesthetically pleasing, but well designed and tested.... and priced at least comparable to any custom metal tanks...

You can contact Dean here ... http://www.growfresh-aquaponics.com.au/ ... 1&Itemid=6

I believe that the steel water tanks for FT and GBs can be ordered with aquacote or something like that as a liner to prevent the metal from corroding and poisoning the fish. At least that is what I recall from earlier discussions (Faye, etc). Wish we could get it here....

Thanks for the link Rupert, I'll keep that in mind. I've just ordered the Aquaponics Made Easy DVD. Is it worth ordering the Backyard Aquaponics book, DVD and CDrom set? I have no understanding of plumbing and all that.....it took 2 weeks for CHIFT PIST to finally click, even though I new individually what each letter stood for. I was awake at 3o'clock in the morning, again, thinking about aquaponics and I had that aha moment.

Go have a look at somebody's system.
Dean's from Growfresh is a nice simple system. You can come see min if you want, but mine's not quite conformist.
Aquaponics book and cdrom was good for me to get an overview, even though I felt I understood the concept well enough before reading.

It appears that my brother in law (husband's brother) is right into aquaponics and possibly setting up his system in the next couple of weeks. I haven't had a chance to talk to him about it yet. My husband has suggested that we wait for him to set his up/ help him set his up, but I'm soooo impatient.

I don't think he's on the forum. I've been so slack, not having a chat with him.

I've nearly talked my parent's in law to set up a bigger system for us in their new house, after they move. They're allowed to have as many animals as they like. Might just have to send the oldest kid to live with them to look after it for us :D

Just a quick update. I think I will go with an IBC to start with as funds are more limited than I thought. And I've been wussing? out on sending that letter to the real estate yet. I want my hubby to go through it first just to make sure he agrees with everything I put in. I'm also waiting to get my dvd that I ordered before I send it. I understand that IBC's are plastic and can get brittle in the sunlight so I'll put something around it to make it look neat and give it some protection.

Be good if you could show the agent and owners a photo or three of the type of system you want to install. A growbed or two showing lots of growth with the fishtank being unobtrusive might help convince them to acquiesce.
