A "reliable Falcon"... now there's an oxymoron...

If you were lucky enough to have a reliable falcon then you'd have to compare it to a commodore... just so that you Ford guys would know what a real car is...

To make a reliable Falcon ,, remove falcon badge and place on Commodore:)
Even then the badge will break down first

what have i started in here

Nocky ... i have had both commodore and falcon
and i have had less problems with more km's in the commodore than in the falcon

problems with commodore ( 2 cars and 150,000km ) 1 skippy jumped out from behind a tree and wrote the first 1 off and then 1 wire in second car in the dash = no dash indications and an alternator at 250,000km
and a battery

problem with falcon ( 1 car and 135,000km ) 1 radiator and headgasket and new head to go with it
oil pressure sender unit
alternator
gearbox problems changing gears new filter and complete oil change ( 20,000km later and it is back again )
radiator again after 9 mths ( dont put the ford one in .. use the after market version )
alternator regulator and brush set ( comes complete ) to fix over chaging
battery
gas struts for the wagon door
windscreen
headlights need replacing $630 each side ( fixed that with new spot lights fitted for less than $200 )
tail light lens fell to peices
indicator lenses both sides fell of within a month of each other
rust in all the hard to fix places
and 1 skippy from behind a bush on the trip to perth
so im now up for a new bumper and lots of everything else under the lefthand side of the car ( when i get around to fixing it )
not to mention that it burns more oil than both comodores which had 202's in them which were suppose to be the oil burners and problem engines from holden

but now that im looking at switching cars again i wont be going with either as there are much better cars on the market for much less dollars ( looking at a 4wd for better handling and towing )

my 2 cents :P
and sorry for hijacking the thread again

strange Mal, I have never had a drama, my EL wagon was a gem, brilliant on fuel and only serviced it every 10,000k's, my AU3 wagon 2002 model is also brilliant, only 70,000 on clock had 5 services and I can go from Narrogin to Albany and return, about 660k's on a tank of fuel and still have some left, had 1 exhaust (only because missus drives it 300 mts all the time) and just on a new set of tyres
Had an ED sedan before the EL again brilliant on fuel, came off a gravel road at 110km/h hit the only tree for 20 k's on the passenger door, the passenger door came in so far that it pinned me against the drivers door was hard to get out (when I came too) and still here to dribble on, so Fords for Life for me
