If you get a decent sized tank Brendan... say 3000L + and half bury it... then thermal mass of the volume... and ground temp through winter... would go close to holding you through I reckon...

Especially with the thermal gain during the day....

No, it wont.

His temps are very similar to mine over the 4 cool months. He has lower temps over night, and warmer temps during the day. I got below 10 deg c for over a month, and that was with no pumping overnight, buried tanks etc. There is simply not enough solar radiation to counteract the chill of a crystal clear night sky.

You cannot keep barra over winter when you have a mean maximum of 22, and a mean minimum of 4.9

You can still get big fish in the season that you do have, and after looking into your climate history a bit further, you probably cant even keep silvers or jades, you ground temp is over 30 deg c in summer, even at 1m deep

Couldn't find the ground temp data OBO.... figured that even overnite, winter, the ground would be sufficient to hold the tank... combined with rise due to day temps....

Where did you find the link?

I cant get the ground temps for june/july without paying the governement for something I have already payed for through my exorbitant taxes.

Judging by what kalgoorlie temps do in winter (pretty much around the average of daytime/nightime temps combined), a ground temp below 20 deg c would be what I would expect.

Not trying to argue, just being real. Sorta need to be coastal to not get the cold overnight temps.

I realise Tennant Creek is a little bit north... but in the time I lived there... other than the odd night here and there.... night time temperatures never dipped much below about 10 degrees at the worst ...

How were nighttime temps through last winter Brendan??
