Shhh, a Glenroy thug (or the plick who stole my gravel) might be lurking around here. Now (s)he'll not only know where I live, but also that I have an old bathtub and rolls of used poly pipe in the back yard!

When I was at his place last year, I'm positive I saw a bunch of sticks I'd left on my nature strip around the time of the last greenwaste collection!

Just kidding Milne (if you read this), everyone who knows me accuses me of being a roaming hoarder. I actually got really excited last week when I came across a slightly bowed trestle table (all it had was a loose leg on it) that was left for dead in a West Heidelberg industrial area!

Don't know, really. I mean, I have plans for the long run, but my head is spinning from all the info and diff types of systems. Will be using scavenged/used/donated materials (will draw the line before stolen, but being on the border of Glenroy, who knows how long it'll be before I'm corrupted by the locals  ) wherever possible, so I guess F&F's system is my template (don't know if the landlord would appreciate a dozer altering the altitude of his back yard, tho...)

Will just start out small, maybe use the IBC for tank, and add grow beds as I go. But I understand that there's a ratio that I should consider, and I don't know if I'll have enough GB area volume to tank volume.

Heck, maybe I'll just plop the pond pump into a 20L bucket of water with a goldfish or 2 in it and pump it up into a 10L plastic tray to start off with, just to get the feel for things.

Start tomorrow if not too busy with work. Wouldn't have a clue when I'll be ready for fish... I guess I should have the tank/grow bed situation sorted first...

iBC (1000L) a good minimum choice for the climate.

half blue barrels can be ok for the beds, but if sliced like a spit they tend to bow out when filled.

Out back ozzie has them halved the otherway............................

a couple of bath tubs can be a good choice. bullet proof (as long as you dont put the angle iron legs on grass without a paver under them ;) and will give you a few years even with the wrong ratio.

Sounds good - I'll sleep on it. Must get home now (don't have internet access there yet.)

Everyone, thanks for the welcome and laughs.

I can feel my life being taken over by yet another never-ending project, slapped in the middle of all the other never-ending projects...
