I wanted to know if anyone has experience growing in a climate like mine. I have had quite good results with most herbs like mint and basil but i find the lettuce i have is growing quite stringy with the leaves spread out as opposed to a nice tight head. I was attributing that to the heat and perhaps it was bolting but i haven't seen any seeds. The other possible cause i was thinking was of the type of lettuce.... I got my seeds from Barbados and it doesn't give a species name on the tin but rather jus the name EMPIRE lettuce.... any thoughts....

Empire lettuce should be slow to bolt... it was breed to resist heat and tip burn....

It's the prevalent variety for lettuce production in Hawaii.....
