Besides - Tilapia isn't the best choice for your area, the winters are too cold without heating the water. What about catfish?

This is the same in Texas. All other species of Tilapia are illegal without licence but the Mozambique's are allowed.

I am in the Marysville area and in the planning stages of our system, man the construction stuff is easy compared to finding fish I want to eat! I have heard good things about hybrid bass, have you?

I live in San Diego county and every where you turn there are Mossambica Tiliapia for sale and growing everywhere. They are hardy fish but more temperature sensitive than the others. They would die in the winters even here because is does get below 55 Fahrenheit. They are not restricted from being owned.

So, what is a good fish for the Central Valley area? Is there a fish that will survive here year-round? Catfish is out of the question.

I am from Hanford, and would like to take my to tour a system here in central california.
which fish are being used also in the area.
it is like, the california constitution, article 1 section 25 states
I, Sec. 25, “The People shall have the right to fish upon and from the public lands of the State and in the waters thereof, excepting upon lands set aside for fish hatcheries, and no land owned by the State shall ever be sold or transferred without reserving in the People the absolute right to fish thereupon; and no law shall ever be passed making it a crime for the People to enter upon the public lands within this State for the purpose of fishing in any water containing fish …”
