I got my pumps and irrigation fittings from Bunnings, but any hardware will do, IBC's from a mate, blue barrels from work, fish from Gavin @ furgusonsprings, but I get my fishfood from BYAP. Others in Bunbury have got there growbeds form BYAP. They are located just off the freeway in Jandakot. You can get heaps of ideas of how simple or complicated it can be. Thoughorly recommend a visit if you are heading up for work/family/footy/....
With the new freeway/highway, its now less than an hour and a half from bunbury. take Berrigal Drive exit to Jandakot. Just down road on right.

As you pull into the BYAP parking lot you will hear a funny noise in your car. Are your brakes squeaking? Is there something wrong with the engine? It will take a few moments until you realise it is your wallet crying and begging for mercy...

Got home yestreday to find flow rates low coming out of grow bed and water levels over the gravel. Had a look at the discharge and there was a wad of roots sticking out. Pulled it out and the water rushed out. No damage.

Me thinks maybe an overflow back into the FT is required. Would hate to go away for a weekend and come back and find all my water has found another home, dead fish, buggered pump...

I haven't finished the shed yet, and the list gets longer.

Must be great growth for things to get clogged up like that. :)

I think an overflow is worth the time to put in. Like you said, the alternative could be nasty.

Pulled the first tomato off last night. Hopefully I can get a good feed of them this year.

Took off another 200gm of beans last night. That makes over a kg from 8 plants in less than a month. Gotta be happy with that.

Time to do a tidy up this weekend. Going away for a week so I need to make sure everything is running well while I am away. Will put in that overflow back to the FT, plant some letuce seedlings, and prop up the toms, and maybe some support for the beans. They are slowly making their way along the ground to the clothes lines. Then I'll be in the poo!

Work, unfortunatly.

On Monday I will heading over to Albury, on the border of NSW and Vic for a conference. Will almost be able to see the snow, but won't be able to play in it.

Then back home on Thursday night and off for a break down at the beach in Busselton. The wife works a few days a week now, so we thought we would reward the kids for doing more around the house. They don't get pocket money for chores, so this is the reward to show them we are better for having mum work a few days a week (school hours). It did pay for my shed, so I can't complain.

Will take the bikes, see some of the sights, try out a few beers and no house work!!

Sounds like a great trip. Hope you have a great time.

Jealous of the bikes. We haven't been able to do family rides at all this winter (have been out on my mountain bike every Sunday though) but it is warming up now I'm sure we will be back on our bikes in the next week or two.

HELP !!!
Am experiencing a fish die off. 3rd trout in as many days. I notice the remaining trout are hanging arround on the surface so am thinking lack of oxygen so have doubled the number of air bubblers to teh 800 lit tank. Am going to try and buy a water test kit today (Sunday ) in Bunbury somewhere maybe a petshop or Bunnings etc. Water has gone green with algae which I am told is noral for a new system.
Any ideas guys???
