Hi all, just joined and am excited to begin reading through all the various posts here.

A little background for why I'm here:
I'm in the process of taking over an established (but abandoned) commercial aquaponics system and am hoping to learn about the standard water quality tests and tools to assess the health of the system.

The system has fish (catfish and koi) and plants (mostly red veined sorel) but neither are being harvested. The fish get fed every day but outside of that no upkeep or water testing has been done since the previous owner abandoned the system. I am fairly familiar with aquaponics in theory but not practice, though I have 10 years experience working with fish and running a large scale saltwater aquarium (plus a degree in marine biology).

I'd appreciate any tips on where to start in this forum for finding tips on tools and test kits I should be investing in now to make sure the system is healthy.

Thanks to all the contributors here, the wealth of knowledge here is amazing!

-Mike
