Hi Noddysevens,

I put a T in the line going to the tank and few bends and a ball valve and divert water back to the tanks. I added the ball valve so that I can control the flow.

Thanks Markz. Marikina is too far, I am afraid the fish might not survive the journey from Marikina to Cavite. I might try buying my fingerlings here in Cavite through Sulit.

I bought 3 small koi's last sunday. 2 are doing well, 1 did not survive the day I bought them. Yesterday a small frog joined my fish in the tank, spent the night in the tank, gave him a stypofoam bed and removed him in the morning. I should have taken a picture of that little frog.

I will post some picture once I finish adding my "real" growbed.

What do you feed your tilapia?

Hi Cocoy

That is cool about the frog , I have never had one by my place , the only thing we seem to get is an occasional toad.

Bummer about the 1 goldfish but at least 2 made it ,I had a few deaths of the goldfish when I started my smaller system. I have been lucky so far with the Tilapia in my new system , lost one at first but all the rest are doing well now. Do you have a water test kit?

I got my feed for the Tilapia from the place we bought the fingerlings. They told my cousin it is Tilapia food but I suspect it is chicken feed.

Looking forward to seeing your pictures.

Hi Markz

I have finished my first mini setup but will be posting pictures by next week.

I have found a Tilapia fingerlings supplier here in Cavite, he's also listed in Sulit. Quite a nice guy if you ever need another fish supplier.

Hi Cocoy,

That is great! did they also have feed available or were you able to find a source through the? I am wondering if what I bought is actually fish feed or not :) the supplier told me it was but the bag is not marked.

I am looking at adding a IBC in the near future so will probably be getting more fish.

I just received a shipment of seeds from the states of various tomatoes and hot peppers if you are looking for any type of seeds to try out in your system let me know. got some great varieties of tomatoes and peppers.

The rains this week have been tough , my tank and sump are covered but the growbeds are not so I have had to drain water a few times , looking at adding a cover soon.

Hi Markz

Sorry for the late reply. Yes, my supplier also sells feeds. What he gave me was called fry mash, he also sells Tilapia grower.

I'd love to try out some of your seeds. Maybe one of these days we could meet up? Been busy experimenting with Tomato and peppers myself (and a few others). Also been trying out non-AP means of growing food. How I wish I have the space to try out things on a bigger scale.

I hope you all like my picture here - I remember I promised to post them as soon as my system is up and running.

I have had trouble with bugs (with a small system as I have, bug clearing by hand is not that difficult) fish dying (a lot of them) and seedlings that doesn't seem to be growing as they should.

My Okra is starting to fruit. Peppers look good but no flowers yet (may need topping). I'll be trimming the oregano soon (it's getting too big).

In case you are looking for Chelated Iron and Liquid Seaweed, I know where you can get them. It's a bit pricey though.

Hi Cocoy,

Looks great , Bugs have always been an issue for me , I have found that chili pepper and garlic spray work really well for both my aquapocics and dirt gardens.

Where did you find the chelated iron and liquid seaweed I would like to try and get some. I heard that there is a store in Megamall that has it but have not had a chance to go there yet. How is the cost.

If you want to meet up some time for seeds let me know , I may also have some extra seedlings.

Mark

I know this is an old post but hoping to get a response from fellow aquaponic members in the Phillipines. Thanks for sharing your experiences. Are treated and untreated 2x4 and 1/4 inch plywood expensive there? Also if I may ask another question please, is 20 mil polyethylene pond liner or Dura-Skrim R20WW also available? My asawa and I will be retiring in Marveles Bataan area and want to build a large family DWC system. Just troubleshooting any possiable issues ahead of time. Salamat Po for sharing.
