Hello,
I'm three weeks into going 'live' on my IBC system and surprisingly, all seems to be going well. We have had a few cold nights here and it's still too early to be planting but the fish seem to be doing okay and my tests show my water condition is pretty stable. I can assure you this was more by chance than skill and knowledge!
I've set up two IBCs by cutting the tub into two sections. IBC 1 has around 650 litres in the tub and a 200-ish litre grow bed with an external U siphon. IBC2 has around 800 litres with a 200-ish litre grow bed also with a U siphon, but this one is a slightly different design. (If/when I can post pics, I'll post 'em up). I had tried an EZE Tee and the usual bell siphon, but settled on the U type which are working well. I've probably jinxed that now, so I'll have to go and check then again. I've never spent so much time patiently waiting for pipes to gurgle. Mine are cycling every 15 minutes, is that about right?
Rainbow trout are in both of the tubs and I'm planning on broccoli as a first crop.
There we go, that's me and my setup. I hope to learn from all the experienced aquaponickers (is that right) on the forum and maybe get to contribute if I can.
