Hi, my name is Kat and I am new to Aquaponics. I am going to build a small flood and drain system, when I get all the supplies. My parents have a Wallapini that I will be housing this in. If this project works we will build a bigger system.
I do have one question right now. Any suggestions on a grow medium? I have heard about using clay balls, gravel, river rocks, lava rocks, vermiculite, peat moss, and coconut coir. Any help would be awesome, thanks.

howdy.. i'm in ohio as well.. look forward to seeing what you do...
whatever you decide;
jtest to make sure it's ph neutral.. put a sample in a container and add some vinegar.. if it bubbles you'll struggle with high ph issues..
that being said, i got 3 tons of river gravel from a landscaping company, delivered for just over $100
no vermiculite in ap (to floaty)...i haven't used peat or coir, but others have.. they present their own challenges
good luck and take lots of pics
