Kevyrev,

I am also in Georgia and currently deployed. I have been researching a new system setup when I return home. I am in the Suwanee/Buford area and plan on building an insulated frame for my fish tank(IBC) so I can grow tilapia year around.

Do you have any advice for me setting a new system up?

Also still have the contact for the IBCs for that low price?

Thanks,

Patrick

Awesome, can't wait to see what you build. I have been so busy I really haven't gotten started on mine yet. Is the system you are doing a new system or is it your first ever system. If I don't hurry up with mine I'll be starting with trout instead of tilapia. I will say that if you try tilapia through the winter, leave a few for breeding inside your home in a tank incase you do lose them outside to the cold. Thanks for your service to our country, sir!

Had some setbacks trying to get back into AP. Ordered those blue tilapia a while back and just got so busy at work that they went into an IBC and was just basically an aquaculture setup really. As work become more time consuming eventually my time became more limited and then we decided to look for a house and move and just never got that system up and going.
I am happy to report that I have just moved into a new house and that I will be getting some tilapia in the mail today!
Im getting ready to get back into AP and can't wait. I really want to grow lots of lettuce in this system and I'm considering either floating rafts or NFT or maybe both. Would love some input or advice as I've never done either.
Anyway, can't wait to get growing again. Also have lots of strawberries that I can implement into the system. I also think I should start a new thread since It will be a fresh start and also since I just moved, or should I just continue here?

Just received my White Nile Tilapia. Just have them in a small tote for the moment. I'm still trying to figure out the system I want to build. Really leaning toward Nft and some raft tanks. Maybe one or two growbeds for the media surface for bacteria but that gravel is a lot of work as I remember last time. So excited to have gotten the fish today. They are only about 1/2" to 3/4". I've had Blues and Mozambique before, are these any different as far as growth and temperature range? Tried to load some pics, not much really, tiny fish in a small tote with filter and air stone. Been two years since I've been on the site and says my pics are too large. I'll be back soon with some system construction pics hopefully soon (if I can figure out how to post again). Probably start under a new thread.
