Go for the media filled growbed, it's the simplest method to start aquaponics...

Hello again. Thanks for the quick response! I have been building PVC manifolds and working on commercial pumps and aeration systems for the past 18 months or so.I fell in love with the demo set up with 2 24x4 growbeds and tilapia tanks. I have been wanting to do this ever since. have done some research and Hydroton seems to be the favorite but it is pricey. River rocks can throw off your Ph and perlite floats. Is there a way I can split it up? I was thinking about 15 Sq. ft. of grow bed as I estimate @100 gallons actual if I leave a few inches from the top. Maybe a little less. I am thinking build the grow bed/raft and include a bio-filter and Sock(150 Micron) which I already have. I want to leave room for expansion. Just want to start the system with goldfish or something. Looking forward to peppers, tomatoes ,lettuce, spinach, kale and maybe some cukes later. would love to see this in everyones backyard. I would love to read your responses. Thanks!
