got some readings on nitrite and nitrate this morning.

Ammonia - 1ppm
nitrites - .25ppm
nitrates - 5ppm

ph is down to about 6.3. starting to get concerned about that. plants are doing great. got a bunch of thai basil sprouts now. didnt think they would sprout at all outdoors in middle of winter. Love San Diego

Put seashells into a clean sock, and hang it somewhere in your system. It will buffer the ph up.

OK ill try that. I have coral in the FT.. I was hoping it would buffer my ph up. Not sure how how that works..How long do the seashells last before I need to change them out, how long would I need to put the shells in there for?

Sea sheels are very hard... and take a long time to break down... and buffer.... some chook shell grit would be a better option...

ALLRIGHT!!
Ammonia has dropped down to .25ppm, and my nitrates are between 80 and 160ppm (hard to tell)..
Nitrites are of the charts. Very bright purple color... I salted to 1ppt so hopefully my fish dont die.
