Greeting from Western Pennsylvania!

My name is Joshua, and I am studying to be a Presbyterian Pastor, and am very interested in things that would make myself more self sufficient.

I got interested in Backyard Aquaponics when I watched Doomsday Preppers and a gentleman on there had developed a system where he grew duckweed and had tilapia and chickens that fertilized the duckweed.

I would love to integrate that system with hydroponics and grow much of my own produce, fish, chicken and eggs.

I would also like to raise rabbits.

Hey Joshua! I'm in Northeastern PA and am just building my first aquaponic system, but have lots of experience with chickens, worms, veggies and such. Let me know if I can be of any help! --david

Hey Joshua, You've started in the right place; there is a ton of information on this site. When I finally decided I was going to do this, I first identified the space that I wanted to use. That will dictate a lot when you begin planning. Then comes the hunt: I could not afford to purchase a system, so I had to hunt around until I found a tank to use. So that's my advice; define how much space you have to use and then find the largest tank you can fit in that space. The rest will be easy --david
