My name is Chris and my good friend and i have just recently learned about the wonders of aquaponics! Needless to say we are very interested. I haven't spent a ton of time in the forums but from what i've seen the community here is awesome. I just graduated high school last year and I'm currently waiting to start school in the spring. I have taken some time to think about what i want from a personal aquaponics system and i've decided that i want to start small to get some experience and eventually aim for a little profit. Maybe sell produce to local restauraunts. If things go well and I enjoy the work involved possibly aim for commercial aquaponics? I'm not too sure about the opportunities and whether or not they are plausible...
Anyways I really don't know much about aquaponics besides the few basics. But as of right now all i need are a few informational sources i can read into to get started. Types of fish to use, best plants to grow, cheapest setups, Tastiest fish/produce:), and maybe just some beginners tips! Also whether or not going to school for aquaponics or something involved like chemistry could help me get to a higher spot on the totem pole in this business. Any type of advice is welcomed. i could use all the help i could get.
Thanks a lot guys!
