Hi All From Erin's Isle...!! I am in the process of acquiring all the equipment to set up an aquaponic system,Has any one any Idea's, or do's and dont's, as to how I should set up in the irish climate do you need lights and heat to keep your system running in the winter months,and will the fish survive the cold weather ?? please reply thanks all !!

Im not sure of your local climate but I am assuming it gets cold.. we have quite a few members here that battle the cold in numerous different ways. Dont let the weather deter you from your dreams.

Search around the forum and you may stumble across something that suits your requirements. The search function is your best friend right now

Well I'm new - I've learnt that its a good idea to insulate your fish tank.

Trout like cold water
perch like warm water
fish that like warm summer water wont produce much good stuff for the veges in the colder months.

Welcome, there are some members from Wales here who have a thread going as well as English andEuropean members with similar climate. First work out where you are going to set up your system then you will at lest know how much area you have and how big a system you can build in that area.

Lots of our North Americian members have systems in basements but if building outside you will need a greehouse or barn. Cheers
