Hey guys, have been flat out but will update where we are at. After having a sap outbreak in our pond with baby sp have decided not to add them over the cooler season, lost a few although most pulled through and are back in pond happy swimming around. We now have friends in the AP for the original trout we added, 10 more of his kind added about a week or so ago. They are doin good, being fed sparingly every 2nd day. After extensive reading, I am well aware of the cons of adding fish before the system is cycled especially in the cooler months but I'm committed to the daily maintenance that this system will no doubt demand. I have been watching, ph, temp and ammo daily and all seems fine so far, that being said, I have a 2500lt rainwater tank set up for water changing demands if and when necessary. We have our system salted to 2ppt. Have been logging API test results daily and I will post some pics of new residents and plants shortly. Thanks for reading(:

Hey guys, once again have been flat out and havnt posted for ages. The system is stil running along fine, was really worried about fish losses after deciding to cycle with trout, but so far haven't lost any. Did have the ammonia what I suspect was close to 2 but did a 20 or so % water change and has been ok since. Stopped testing everyday as I think it was making me a bit pedantic, so I'm taking a more relaxed stance now. Kids are loving the hungry trout and they have had alot of fun feeding them, holding the pellets so they just touch the water and waiting for the trout to come and take them. We have modified the stand pipe so as the water drains and returns to the ft it creates a current and the fish seem to enjoy it. We have also used some old netting curtain and tightly cable tied it the top of ft to prevent any escapes. Will post some more pics of gb ft and fish.

Also have managed to hyjack my hydro class at TAFE. We have been allowed to set up an IBC system. The class watched fayes demonstration vidio to give them and idea of what it's all about and I have directed them all to this forum for futher info and research purposes( should warn them how many late nights will be spent reading through fascinating posts). I will update progress as it goes along but it's really exciting to be able to put a system together as a class and great to see so many people really enthusiastic about AP. :headbang:
