Hello, I just joined this board. I have a lot of experience keeping fish for the last 25 years, having had extensive setups for breeding various tropicals indoors. I was researching raising food fish when I found this site and got hooked on the idea. I'm still doing research, but by next spring I'd like to have accumulated all the necessary parts to have a small system to try out the concept. We have a small farm in Battle Ground, just outside of Vancouver, and I think this would be a nice addition to our farm. We have been trying out different things over the years trying to determine what would really work for us here, and with my knowledge of fish, I think this would be a fun and productive project.
I'd love to hear from anyone else in WA state, USA, who has a system up and running.

Greetings Stephanie,
I am from Ocean Shores, WA USA...not too far from you!
Anyways, I don't have a system yet, but will probably in the next few weeks. I live in a small condo 1/2 block from the ocean, and I work at the Quality Inn here (right on the ocean). Anyways, my system will run off of Two - Ten Gallon Aquariums, and have approximately Four to Six (or more) grow beds, and will be built on a bookcase in my living room (with added supports for the bookshelves)...This is my current plan, just need more time off and perhaps a few friends to help.
Looking forward to conversations,
Jeff C

HI Jeff, nice to hear form you.
HOw come you choose to go with two tens? I find the bigger, the more stable. I was sorely tempted last week at the local salvation army I saw they had a 80 g tall for $75. It was such heavy glass, I'm not sure my husband and I working together could have gotten it home safely! I'll hold out for either something acrylic, or a large stock tank. I'm keeping an eye on the local ads for something appropriate.
I'm thinking of building a greenhouse on the side of our shop and putting the tank and growbeds in there. If not I'm considering keeping the tank inside the garage (better for temp control and predators) and running pipes out to the growbeds outside. Anyway, I'm still playing with ideas.
