Hello
Just registered after snooping around for a few months and after being given a little push from Faye when I checked out the BYAP shop a couple of weeks ago.
We're building our first system. Hoping to be planting some seedlings in the next few days. It has taken a bit longer than anticipated to get this far but we are building quite a large system and it's very exciting.
I'll get around to posting photos and detailing the system in the other pages soon I hope. In short, it all started with our 22000L poly rain water tank that got damaged after my husband ran into it with the tractor. We cut the top off it, turned it upside down and now we have a beautiful conical base 8000L fish tank. We aquired some huge fibreglass pipes which we have cut in half length ways and used for the grow beds.
The last couple of days we have been washing gravel which has not been very much fun but it is exciting to see it all coming together.
My husband has been amazing taking on this massive project, as usual I totally underestimated how much work would be involved in building it. I'm sure he would take a little longer to answer if he knew what he was in for when I asked him "Babe, could you please help me build an Aquaponics system" a few months ago.
Bring on the Fish n Veg for dinner!
