The Harbor Freight 258 gph pump is on sale for $9.95 right now.... would that work for a constant flow system with a 200 gallon fish tank? or is that pushing it too close? Right now I'm thinking of using a 250 gal IBC for my fish.

How noisy are the pumps? Cheap is good, but this is going to end up in a greenhouse with an open window to my house, so quiet is going to be a priority, even if it costs a little more.

What if I ran two of those pumps: one to growbeds and one to a NFT system?

TIA,
Sonia

Most important factor for pumps should come down to reliability. A cheap pump that breaks down and kills all your fish becomes an expensive pump..

Very true -- that's one of the reasons I'm asking before I waste $$ on a "deal" :dontknow: ... has anyone here used them? The reviews seem to be good, and at that price I can buy extras in case of problems. I'm currently planning to pump from a sump to fish tank, even if I decide to go with a constant flood system, so I think solids shouldn't be too much of an issue.

i would say no, it's barely enough for the job if you have a 250gallon ft, especially if you have to pump the water up more than a foot..do you know how high you are going to have to pump the water to the growbeds? (that's the "head" of the pump)
