Currently running DWC/Deep Flow DIY System 50 sp in an IBC draining into 6 half barrels (cut length ways) and piped together in two rows of three as the grow beds/channels, then empties in to sump (old bath) and pumped back into FT. Air pump runs in system to FT and each gb. Also have 1 yabby in one of the gbs gonna add more to all the gbs at a later date.

Just a question what do you mean you have 1 yabbie in the GB? From what i understand they need water and in AP how ever you set it up the water shouldnt be able the level of the media.

Hey Boilup....

I see you've been on the forum a little while, and in that case you know the question is going to be asked... Where's the photos? :)

He's running deep water culture beds Zman, so there's no media in the beds at all, just water.

Thanx for the warm welcome yep sorry i should have said the deep flow channels (half blue barrels) but i always refer to them as gbs...sorry. I have attached a link to you tube. I hope it is a bit clearer in explaining.

Just watched the vid... nice....

By the way Murray didn't invent/design the "chop" method... although he did rename it to "chop"... (Gary D might dispute that... )...

"Chop" was an idea that was born on this forum... and known as "Chift Pist"...

Hi John,

I stand corrected, I was a little confused about that because they are one in the same, but thank you.

Yeah a marketing move, rename something already existing, then try and take ownership of it under the new name... Relabeled because it was considered "crude and vulgar", and I guess more to the point, not great for marketing..

Long live Chift Pist ..... :headbang: Far more definative acronym.

And yep "Chift Pist" came about over concerns related to using two pumps... and/or float switches... in systems with sumps...

Now Chop2.... uses two pumps... in systems with sumps... and is declared a "breakthough".....

It uses 2 pumps? I didn't really like the idea when I thought there was only the one pump, just seems like a bit of a waste. A poor solution to a problem, rather than rethink things totally and come up with smart elegant solutions that provide added benefits. This patches up the initial problem but then creates other problems.

Actually, correction... Chop2 still only uses the one pump... (brain fade )

But now pumps not only to the fish tank.. which overflows to the sump tank... but also to the grow bed... which also returns to the sump tank....
