Hello all, a short introduction...

We (Kasia, Lungi and me Matthew) are currently developing a small aquaponics project here in Guatemala. It is partly as a science project for Kasia and Lungi (two local school girls we are friends with) but mostly out of our interest in aquaponics and some free time we have.

I have started a members system thread to provide all the info we have. We are about 80-90% through constructing the system - an ebb/flow system of about 700l fish tank capacity. We have found BYA extremely useful during our research and design phases for finding our theoretical information and practical applications.

Here is a short animated video (prepared whilst designing the system in Google Sketchup) which shows the broad design of the system we are aiming for - http://www.vimeo.com/15034765. All the rest of the info/pics/videos will eventually be put up on the members system page "aqua-pana-ponics" (or can be found in the link in the signature below).

Hi @TAE20 nope you didn't miss the part about what type of fish we are going to use. We are just about to start cycling our system and are yet to get any fish. We believe that we can get some tilapia here and some locals have told us about some other type of fresh water fish here that is good eating. We'll have to start looking into the fishy situation soon.

You've clearly worked out how the labour is divvied up - please don't call child services
