Hi all. Another newbie to aquaponics and, as you can see, well and truly hooked. I have been thinking about this type of system for quite a while and attended a workshop conducted by Faye and Carl that was extremely informative.
The catalyst was my vegie gardens were being decimated by the palms next door consuming every bit of goodness I could pour into the soil. This is the perfect solution I think. Time will tell.
As you can see by the pictures the beds are still in place as I have 3 citrus trees "growing" and would like to save them by transplanting them into seperate aquaponic beds. Has anybody has any success/tips on this? The beds will eventually go giving access to both sides of the grow beds.
I have planted all the grow beds with seedling and seeds about a week ago and introduced 80 trout into the FT on Sunday. They are thriving by the looks of it and I will post some photos of them soon. Some of the pea seeds are sprouting already.
I would appreciate any comments/suggestions. I am already considering replacing the bath as it tends to fill up quickly hence the pump is working constantly.

As for the citrus. Make sure when you plant them in grow beds, try and give them extra deep grow beds that you can leave the flood level a little extra low below the top of the media since citrus are very prone to root rot and even trunk rot. (granted that is just my guess since I don't actually have any citrus trees growing in my AP system as of yet- only trying to root some cutting so far- there are some out there who do have citrus growing in AP though so I know it can be done.)

I sure hope citrus can be a lot better than that. No offence meant F&F but that is one sick looking plant. Actually I'm feeling sorry for it ,, that fruit should have been removed as the plant is no=where near mature enough to support fruit.
If my dirt garden can grow citrus to 3 metres high AND wide and produce 500 plus fruit a year and half,, then AP can do it also. Actually I think AP could better than that.
