Good advice, thanks Swanberg!

Should I do something similar with the tomatoes?

Also, planting similar plants together gives pests a better chance of becoming bad infestations.

Haven't found this to be the case in AP Karen... in fact aquaponics seems to defy much of the conventional rules regarding spacings, companion planting (or at least adjacent plantings) and pest infestations that apply to soil gardening...

Black spot in peas is usually fungal related Nocky...

Can occur from extended periods of rain and/or humidity.... so planting too densely could be a problem... or in this case too closely to other plants...

Can also be seed bourne... bad seed stock... the reason that pea seeds are often coated with that greyish anti-fungal powder...

And can survive in "soil" for several years... hence the recommendation that you not plant in the same spot as previous years...

What to do about them....humm ... maybe try and increase air flow around/through the crop... :dontknow:

Yeh when I was farming we couldn't grow lupins in the same paddock because of black spot so pea's the same, at 2 - 14 deg I doubt humidity and air and the others probably not, I would lean to bad seed or the use by date of Aug 2007  but they are raging so will leave them to suck out the nutrients
