Hello to all. I am Cris Gaston from Silay City , Negros Island in the Philippines. I have been breeding and raising fish for almost 20 years now and am presently operating a tilapia and catfish hatchery. Last year, I built an aquaponic RAS with tilapia and greens (mostly lettuce) on styro rafts side by side. I am now building a flood and drain unit connected to the RAS. I am also doing some experiments on the raft systems as a corollary crop in commercial tilapia ponds as a means to maximize utilization of resources. I look forward to the exchange of ideas in this forum.

Cris, welcome to a fascinating place.

I too raise catfish. What species do you grow? I raise Ictalurus punctatus for the most part.

I Look forward to hearing more about your operation.

Thanks fellas. Yup, will get some pics on the board later. I have just re-started the RAS because of problems with water snails feasting on the plant roots. Hopefully, the convict cichlids which I put in will be able to control the snails without eating the plant roots. Aside from tilapia, I breed Clarias gariepinus (aka african cats) and Pangasius hypopthalmus (aka Vietnamese cats). These are for commercial food production. Cheerz.
