We are one week into our system operating...26 silvers(started with 31) and a handful of asian greens...Made it out of a 1000L IBC as seen on YOUTUBE...i.e 200L grow bed and 800L fish tank.We opted for the siphon system and it took four attempts to get the plumbing working to adequately drain and fill...lots of mucking around with pipe sizes and air tubes. The cycle takes about 30 mins and runs 24/7...always room to improve!!! Not real sure that it runs too fast...and still working on the rate of fish feeding using Laucke's Barra mix... any clues?

What exactly is "Laucke's Barra mix"...???

How big are your fish... if I can figure the biomass... I can tell you how much to feed...

Give em a teaspoon full Jack, see if they eat it and are looking for more... they probably average about 8 grams each so that's say 250 grams total mass, feed about 3% of that per day = 7 - 10 grams per day of feed, depending on how they are going. If they are leaving the food, stop putting it in, as you don't want to have it decomposing on the bottom of the tank

We would generally try and spread the fdeeding over 2 - 3 feeds per day.

I wouldn't feed at 5% unless the water temp is above about 24 degrees.

Thanks guys. Will try that!
Just another question - any ideas why the siphon has been working OK for a week and today it has been refilling to two thirds then continually flowing without filling and draining. :?
