Do you know about the yahoo group Barrelponics? (http://tech.groups.yahoo.com/group/barrelponics/)
It's much more US centric than this board is. The barrelponic god, Travis, runs it.

(Having said that, I find this forum much more friendly and useful! Although I also must admit I prefer forums to mailing lists...)

Hey I am also a newbie on the site and I live in NW Ohio but am currently finishing a semeser of study in Austalia. It was while here I happened upon the idea of aquaponics and am so far facinated.

Just thought I would let you know of an interesting urban farming initiative based out of Milwaukee but also has farms in Chicago called Growing Power. They have according to their website several AP systems on their Milwaukee base might be worth checking out and they seem like they would be frendly and open to you taking a look around they are a non profit. Website might be worth checking out at the very least for you:
