So how did it go Faye? Did you get the projector and computer to work ok? Were they a receptive crowd?

They were an absolute delight! They thoroughly enjoyed, so they said, the slideshow that I presented them with and the story of my journey into aquaponics and beyond. I think you may get some visitors to the shop today.
I made the story beginning with my dirt garden experiences, the open garden and how easy aquaponics is compared to the dirt garden. Jaymie said he heard their jaws drop at times, I think that is when they saw the ladybird eating the aphid. I showed a picture of my white crab/flower spider and a lady said I saw one of those for the first time this week. She was probably 70 years old. My half hour turned into 50 minutes according to Laura. (Laura drove us their and handled the IT setup and packup, boyfriend Jaymie, said it was great, just trying to impress me, I guess.) I had a good time, talking about aquaponics and why we don't need fertilisers and pesticides. Love my new toys!
They have indicated that they would be happy for us to present/ display at the Canning show later this year. Some of them weren't sure about eating their pets, so I had to tread lightly on that subject, but they didn't mind the pictures of the fish and salad. I think I have earned a day of rest so off to lunch now for a bit of rest (short for restaurant) and relaxation.

Not pets - just food they haven't eaten yet !!

So if most people arn't too cool with eating their pets, I guess "Edible Pets" might not be such a good product line for the business huh?

There are always a percentage of people that can't get their head around eating the fish. Last nights talk was not a hard sell, more of an information session, light hearted information which gave people a new perspective on vegetable gardening and the use of chemicals and the impact it has on the eco systems.

Crikey, we may have to setup a farm visit for those people so they see a sheep being killed and hung for a few days in a cool room, watch a chook getting its head cut off, plucked and gutted, shoot a roo for dog meat, drop a live yabbie into boiling water, and catch a fish out of the AP and watch it being killed, scaled, gutted and fried. (And stuff milking a cow, that's a mugs job!!)

Or perhaps just go around and visit them all and exchange a big fish for a new fingerling. :roll:

That's a damn good idea Rick, a reality farm visit, show it how it is. I know its funny, but some people believe it is better to buy their fish from a grocery store on a polystyrene tray wrapped in glad wrap(without knowing how or where they have been grown.)

I had barramundi for lunch today at a pub up in the hills, I have to say the ones that I've grown here taste much better. Think I will give up ordering it when I go out and compare because I seem to be always disappointed.
