This Sturgeon was caught on the Swan just near Fremantle City two weeks ago. It weighed out at over 1,000 lbs and measured out at 11'1'. It was 56'' around the girth and took over 6 and a half hours, and 4 dozen beers, for the 4 guys taking turns at the reeling it in. Tony Harben did a fantastic job of reeling it in which took just over four hours.

Any Sturgeon OVER about five feet has to be released unharmed and cannot be removed from the water.

They are brood breeding stock and probably older than most of us. This one maybe 100 years old.
Admin: Interesting story, but not quite true. Sturgeon do not grow anywhere in Australia. Seems this picture has been making the rounds of the internet for quite a while claiming to be from a few different places

Hey C1, if they can't remove it from the water , how did they weigh it accurately?

thanx mon, i only ask because muzza had a near death experience last night. apparently i turned off the air stone sunday and the cannister filer was 90% blocked............... saw him by chance.........was breathing heavily at the waters surface, almost completely white............

think it may be time to move him to an outside tank.................

never let the truth get in the way of a good story. In fact, i thought the fish was caught in our river torrens, which makes the swan look like a skanky creek backwater :P
