Ok everyone, It is finally official!!!! I just got the information up on my website concerning our first Aquaponic/Barrel-Ponic workshop here at our place in South Carolina. Since this is our first time at this, space will be limited so if you want to come please register early. We are in a very remote area but have plenty of space for tent camping (showers and porta-johns will be available) or RV's (no hookups at this time). Accomodations will improve as we do this more often and the finances become available. We will have Paul Range sharing on handmade pumps and sailwings. We will also have the Clemson University Extension aquaculture specialist speaking on water quality and testing. The local aquaculture expert on tilapia from Santee Cooper Power will also be speaking on tilapia. I will fill in the gaps and there will be an opportunity to either work on your own barrel-ponics systems or we will build a larger more family sized system here to give people some experience. All this is in the registration and schedule information on the website. The link you will need is: http://www.fastonline.org/content/category/1/44/2/ Trav. Author - The Barrel-Ponics Manual. |

I submitted a request for further education to the Boss but he would not fund the research this time around. I therefore will be unable to attend at this moment in time, perhaps next. My humblest apologies, I would love to get there one day in the future. |

Thanks for all the comments. I am looking forward to this event, to say the least. Hopefully I can get things rolling enough some day to have Joel over as a speaker. Don't have the finances for that one yet though but will keep hoping. Trav. |

Travis, I read an article on aquaponics on a Wednesday, and by Friday decided we needed to try this system with the severe drought in the southeast. We built your system a couple of weeks ago, and are in the balancing stage with the fish and plants. So far, so good. Haven't lost too many cheap goldfish. Will be getting tilapia as soon as I feel we're ready. Your instructions are very clear, easy to follow and you are to be commended for your effort! Wish we could make it to your workshop. Good luck and keep up the good work. |
