Received my new DO meter today. Milwaukee MW600. After reading directions and calibrating the unit, I took some readings. Aquarium inside- 7.2, FT in AP- 4.9, ST- 7.2, far side of DWC, away from inlet- 6.5
How do those readings compare to yours?
The other issue. There is a plastic protective cap that you're supposed to cover the diode with. I placed the cap over the diode and pushed it on. It "clicks" into place, but now I can't remove it. I'm not weak, and have an above average grip(tennis 2-3x per week, shoveling 5)and pulled at about 75% with no luck. I'm afraid to try and put any more force on it, as the bottom of the unit has plastic threads, and I don't think they'll take much more. Just curious if anyone else has this unit and has had the same issue. I'll give them a call tomorrow and see what they say.

I have this unit and lightly put on the cover. Call them up and ask. I'd be afraid to rip off the plastic cover as wellie I pulled on it. My ft is 7 and in side aquarium with a million fry, it's at 4. The smaller the fish, the more oxygen they consume according th Nate story. I should check out the AP sump.

NEVER had any experience with DO meters and so don't have a good feel for how DO changes with temp.. etc..

I would be curious as to how high you can get that DO reading
..

First off I don't have this meter so take my answer with a grain of salt.

Are you talking about the plastic cap that they ship it with or the protective cap? They say in the instructions page 1 to dispose of the red or black plastic cap, it's just for shipping - the probe is shipped dry.

If you're talking about the protective cap then that's another story. The instructions indicate a twist and pull motion to remove the protective cap on page 2 in the picture next to the calibration section. If that doesn't work could be that a vacuum has formed but I'd call them and let them walk you through getting it off so there is no doubt if something gets messed up.

I have the same meter and had the same problem with the cap. No amount of pulling or swearing would remove the cap. I had to carefully cut it off with a razor blade. I store the probe in a small sample jar filled with fresh RO water.

My levels run 7.8 to 8.0 at 75F in an indoor RAS setup with trickle towers.

Thanks guys, obviously a design flaw. I'll call, but will probably end up cutting it off as well. Of course, it won't be much of a protective cap once i cut it up. Twisted and pulled, about as hard as I dare with a plastic cap with plastic threads. I'll cut it off and maybe the next one they send me isn't quite as tight. I assume a fine line between being tight enough to be airtight and protective and "too tight" and impossible to remove. :dontknow:
Going to check the new RAS with the regen air blower and see how high it will read.
