Just sent an email to Woodvale Fish and Lily farm asking about trout availability, and got this response: --- You may have missed the message on our website, home page, that Trout will no longer be available, The farmer growing our the trout, lost them all, over 19,000. So we have none at all anymore. This was just confirmed to us yesterday. So sorry we can only assist with Silver Perch, --- Ouch. Looks like I'll have to do some driving |

Yes I knew that was coming as I posted here: viewtopic.php?f=4&t=15616 The last couple of years Woodvale has bought their fish from King Trout who have had 3 different operators over the last 3 years and all have had major issues keeping the fish alive and healthy over the summers. Unfortunately with declining rainfall and more new dams in the Treen Brook catchment the stream now dries up over the summer making growing trout much harder than it once was. |

Thanks for the info Troutman. Do you know of any place north of the river that can supply 20 fingerlings? |

Pretty sure only myself and Golden Ponds will be able to supply trout this year to Perth buyers. |

Jeez, folks... I'm so sorry. I watched a show on PBS framing the Australian geology... and you have so many similarities to my home valley... but we have the jet stream that keeps us from drying up and blowing away... not by much, mind you. We still depend on the Colorado River for most of our water. Our weirdness has been that we saw a cooler winter... a short freeze... and not heavy snow pack... but late snows. We had a little snow (3") on Mt Charleston Monday... but it is well and gone already. So far, our inland waters haven't 'warmed' yet... and Trout still thrive in our mountain streams. Y'all don't have the mountains we depend on. |
