I am always trying to spread the word of all things aquaponics in my area whether it be through friends and family, work contacts or door to door hand-outs. But I may have landed the big one for the goldfields region - The local newspaper aka 'The Kalgoorlie Miner'
After reading an article in yesterdays paper about home food production titled 'Good idea, but highly unlikely' I was cocerned it was sending out the wrong message to the community and therefore saw the window of opportunity.
The article spoke about how the impending world food shortage may suggest that we need to step up backyard gardening and home food production and how its a great idea but then in the same sentence puts forward that it is highly improbable due to shrinking housing blocks and speedy lifestyles and we have become a nation that sacrifices freshness and quality for the convinience of supermarkets - pfft
Well, I wrote in to the editor and gave a speech on aquaponics, how it all works and the benifits of organic home food production etc etc
I recieved an email from them this morning on how impressed they are and they want to do an article on my system and how well it feeds the family etc.
Another small step for man and another giant leap for Aquaponics. Woohoo!
