Hey Charlie. You had trout in with your silvers last year didn't you. How did that work out as I am thinking of doing this. Silvers are two year old

Sure did brother. I only had 7 trout in with 40 odd 2yr old SP though. They didnt even look like hassling the SP. This year Im going the opposite and doing about 30 trout with 10 big mother SP, See how we go.

Im still undecided if its a numbers thing, size thing or a territorial thing. After this year Ill have a better undestading. PJ had both trout and SP fingerlings in his big concrete tank and from what he can tell the end numbers looked ok, but that is a big tank.

Troutman, what is the PH of the water that the trout are currently in? I have brought my PH down from 8 to 7.3ish over the last couple of weeks, assuming your water is at about PH7.
Is this a correct assumption?
Cheers.

Last time I checked (which was a while a back) it was 7.2

What Charlie has said about trout is actually incorrect, trout acclimatise much better to changes in temp and PH than Silver Perch do. If you bring a bit of your system water with you I will give you a bit of mine and then they can acclimatise on the way home. Thats way longer than I give them when I deliver fish straight to your door.

I have been able to raise the ph in my FT from 6 to 6.6 with the addition of shellgrit and a natural limestone but the temperatur of the FT in the geenhouse was only once 19.5 after the one colder night. Otherwise it varies between 20.8 in the morning and 21.8 in the afternoon allthough I stopped pumping over daytime and lots of aerating and shading the greenhouse.

Will I be ok or better the trout?????
Got lots of frozen water in the freezer :dontknow:

You should be ok. Feed in the morning and either lightly or none at night (depending in if your system can cope with the load).

You may want to add shell grit too as once the trout are in your system will get a good kick start and the pH is likely to drop.

Taadaa the new fish feed storage unit. Just trying it out for tomorrow. Though I do hope Joel does not blow up all the lids if it freezes everything. Tomorrow night it will be full of fish food. :)
