Thebest shot we ever did was when we had the hobby farm 12 in dirt then all rock 176 ft of it 23 holes all 1 metre deep i cup of nitro 1/4 stick of gelly all wired together one big bang [good job there was no aircraft over head at the time the sky was grey with rock it came down like hailstones for ever ] but in the end an instant set of postholes for a cattle yard. thats only one story theres lots more

Steve asked ages ago if there were any areas near the north or west of Melbourne you could get some fish from.

Well near is a relative term. But I mentioned that I was going fishing.

Sorry about quality ubt I've only got a phone camera.

I think these little fellas are trout. Any way there were lots of them but since they are under size by law you would have to put them back.
The second photo is my secret spot but unfortunately a few others know about it.
I thought that these would be blackfish. While the colouring was very similar (same) the tail morphology looked very different and I didn't notice any barbles in the quick look I gave them. Which means I have no idea what they are.

I found some more pools with more fish in them but I ran out of time.

File comment: This is where I caught the two mystery fish. There was another that was twice as big but he got away. Honest

SC, post a clearer picture, but i'd bet my left XXXX that they are mosquito fish, and by law you were required to destroy them............same fine as not killing carp, but i won't tell anyone ;)

I made the same mistake.

What cute little fishies! i'll take some home and identify them...........NUTZ!

do they have a sort of flat face/mouth?

We need a shift in thinking in western society, reuse of grey water in toilets should be mandatory in all new houses, make rainwater tanks mandatory, even if it's just for bathroom use.

i couldnt agree more with you on this one, RPH is one of the few place that we do water treament old as the hills but they have all the toiles set up on a sepeate flushing line from huge tanks on the 12th floor into which the reject water from their boiler R-O goes, its one of the few systems ive seen that get 100% use of water through an R-O system

Recycle our water that we have... I couldn't believe hearing on the radio a few months back how some shire in the eastern states that was seriously running out of water. They were having a referendum on whether they would start mixing recycled sewerage water into their town drinking water... The water had been shown to be totally free from pathogens, good clean water, most people couldn't taste the difference, yet there was a big campaign to fight against it being used.... :? What? Like your going to even have a choice a few years down the track...

there are two things i find funny about this sort of thing
1) all water has been recycled since the planet formed, bar the few liters that the astronaughst might have dumped in space the ret of it stays in the planetary cycle

2) the kind of treament that sewerage would go through to make it potable (drinkable ) would probably make it "better" quality than the water they get in the first place

Weird
