Nailed it Steve..... before some of your tweaks I'd been playing with control panel settings...

so that I only saw post for the past day....rather than the everything....

Not sure why I could see some threads though.... reset my control panel options to "All" (threads & posts) rahter than "1 Day" ....

All OK ....

Wow! What the heck happened? I guess i don't visit often enough. I Thought you guys has gone belly up!

Suggestion: give the old URL a redirect or at lest a "We'ved moved" message. Even as scary as that kind of notice is (Like when "mom" and "dad" left me a note on the front door when i was 12 and i came home from school to find it... but i regress..) it's nice to know that there's some crumbs to follow...

In the next day or so we are going to move the whole forum back to the old address.. We have to because there are thousands of google links, linking to the old forum topic addresses..

Google should pick up the new links soon enough.

I told Google to recrawl http://www.backyardaquaponics.com (at http://www.google.com/addurl/?continue=/addurl) - hopefully this will update the links more quickly.

My only comment is can we have links open a new browser instance. Several times I clicked a link, read the info and closed only to find I've closed the BYAP browser.

That should easily be solved in your web browser DerekH.

For example, with firefox you can middle click on a link & it will open in a new tab. There's probably preferences in your web browser to determine what behaviour to have when you click on a link.

Soooo what HAPPENED? Why did the old one die?

Pass......... They (host support) say it was a corrupted common.php file so I replaced it with a new one, but that didn't work...

I still have no idea what went wrong... Why did they suspend the account last Thursday, as this is when the trouble first started? I spoke with 4 or 5 different support people over those few days and no one could tell me..

Keep up the good work EB!
Let's hope this feilds another increase in interest and people setting up systems.

It is great to be back!
I'm also glad we're running on a newer version of phpbb. This bit of software is notorious for having security holes. I don't think there's a single phpbb forum I frequent that hasn't crashed much like this one did, or has been defaced by hackers.
Keeping it up-to-date really helps (as does most software, of course...)

You mods rock! The recovery was very smooth and fast.

The one thing I miss from the old old forum is the country flags. It was really nice to be able to glance over and see if the person was aussie or not (and therefore, was I anywhere close?) As a "stupid american," I only have the faintest idea where anything in OZ is, outside of Perth and Sydney (well, and Adelaide, Brisbane, Alice Springs etc...)
