I'm afraid it started to go a little over my head, so the drop off of people has increased but then so have the totals?

Probably need to find out exactly what an active member is..

Hey Charlie, doesn't count if it isn't verified by an independent authority. Hehehe
And it is the quality, not the quantity that counts. I reckon some pretty special people support our forum :) It keeps me off the streets anyway.

The best part is the new user could be a bug Dr.

That could be handy if a lady bug sprains her ankle or something.

If they are, it will be a nice (and unusual) addition to the member skills thread

:D

Next time, just come over and mow my lawn :)

Actually I think the numbers are interesting. I have an account on every aquaponics forum I know of, but I dont actually go there. Same with a stack of other forums about everything else I study. There always tends to be one "stand out" forum for the topic at hand.

All the notifications I get from here are about active topics I've subscribed to. Most of the other notifications I get from MOST of the other places are junk mail, and notifications about being notified about notifications. Most, but not all.

What I'm trying to say is there is a big difference between membership, and active membership.

I set up a new email account for every new forum, but there are are a few (like BYAP) that I port to my real email.

Me just being me Ive been punching some numbers tonight and here is some useless stats..

1000 members by Nov, 2007.

2000 members by Nov, 2008.

3000 members by Sep, 2009.

4000 members by Jul, 2010.

5000 members by Jun, 2011.

6000 members by Dec, 2011.

7000 members by May, 2012.

8000 members by Nov, 2012.

Increase from 1K to 2K = 1 year

Increase from 2K to 3K = 10 months.

Increase from 3K to 4K = 10 months.

Increase from 4K to 5K = 11 months.

Increase from 5K to 6K = 6 months.

Increase from 6K to 7K = 5 months.

Increase from 7K to 8K = 6 months.

Interesting stuff I must say.

I think at this rate, by 2020 we will be taking on 3000 members a week...

Anyone looking for a moderators job?
