I missed this discussion while I was away. If it wasnt for the anouncements in the portal page I may have missed it all together. :D

I too, like Jaymie, stop in to check Birthdays, top post counts and total member count.

I also often go there to stare at my name in the team list. Sometimes I like to imagine it in red.... ahhh

I still think leave it because of some of the counters it has and different information etc. Like most have said, they either arent using it or havnt noticed so I dont think it could do any harm leaving it.

The birthdays and total member counts are also on the Board Index page, near the bottom.

I dont even have a BYAP bookmark.

I just click a notification in my email and then randomly click stuff until dawn, then realise I should have done some sleeping.

whats a portal page?

That is what I used to do but now I only seem to get notifications of private messages and not about any of my subscriptions. Even when I wiped them and re-subscribed I haven't gotten notices about it.
:(
I hope that issue gets figured out soon. I've been so busy lately I don't tend to go searching here or even stop by much without a message letting me know there is something here I might want to come look at.

In another window I just discovered what the portal page was, and as a result see your notice of diruption. I think given the different ways people use this forum, a notifications area needs to be in every page, perhaps near the time notification so its top and bottom of each page.

For the sake of cross polination and general mingling, it might be worth dropping birthday's, newest members, latest post subjects, and charlie's name, in rotation when it's not required for important notifications.

Just a little space.

And I think the "word graph" is a bit pointless :)

"also any been could don going good got had has here how into know more much need new now only over see then think time too use very well when"

It's an interesting reflection on the english language, but perhaps it needs to be restricted to subject headings (I'm off to do a search for "don" to see why he's so popular.

[note from the future - don is actually "don't" in the word graph]
