Did a radio (phone) interview with 2ST yesterday... wasn't real happy with it (haven't heard it)... was rushed...

But did another at lunch time for ABC Illawarra.... "Drive time".... and nailed it... forgot to tune in on the way home though...

Pretty successful day today... very busy from the time the doors opened, but much quieter after lunch...

Printed out about 300 price lists.... and they were gone by lunchtime...

A lot of people mentioned that they're either seen the article in the "Register" or the "Town & Country"... but most apparantly heard the ABC "Drive Time" interview.. which they said was pretty good... I'll have to get a copy...

Some interesting leads, and a couple of offers to be involved in some grants proposals... including a real interest from an aboriginal group that has been looking at aquaculture and has about 10 x 5000L tanks...

Several high schools and another "Foster Child" organisation...

Took a few vege... and three trout along to add to the display... the trout seemed to impress...

Given the amount of publicity I got, and the amount of interest in the display... I might not be invited to the next one...

Nice work Rupe, pics look damn good on the board. Hope your not going to have to provide to many stunt fish, bloody good idea to have a "this all came out of my system this morning" sign there, that's bound to trigger a lot of peoples interest...

The other interesting conversation I had today was with a bloke about 50km south of me...

With 11 dams on his property... running 50,000 Silver Perch that he supplies to the "live" Asian resturant market in sydney...

Needless to say we are meeting up to have a chat about things...

That all sounds like it went really well for you Rupe. Hope you can convert a few at least to sales!
Know what you mean about the price lists. Dave did such a pretty job on the new brochures, that we went through about 500 by 4.30pm today.
What numbers do you reckon came through the doors?

Not sure how many attended Faye... I'll find out later...

Here's an overview of the display ... and "moi" in action... taken by the forum organisers...

Bummer... looks like the pictures still didn't come over from the glitch some time back...

I'll have to get Joel to allow an edit on the thread and fix them up...

Anyway... second of the "Sustainable Housing Forum" road show exhibits took place in Nowra today...

Compared to the previous one at Berry... this was a very different and sedate event...

Probably all sorts of reasons... but those that did come along... were definitely commited individuals, not just sight-seers...

And I got to talk aquaponics in depth with many people... including the newly elected Deputy Mayor of Shoalhaven Council... Gareth Ward.... who was mightly impressed with the concept of aquaponics, and pledged to do all he could to incorporate it into council sustainability programs... and schools....

As well as assist with any zoning or regulation issues that might crop up anytime in the future...

Now this could have been just "hot air"... and pollie speak...

Other than the fact that after several speeches and photo ops with various people...

He came back to talk further... twice.... and when I arrived home.... he had sent an email...

Quote:

Hi John,

Really good to meet with you at the Sustainable Housing Forum today!
If ever I can be of any assistance in the future, I would be delighted to help in any way I can.

Warm regards,

Gareth

Gareth Ward | Deputy Mayor | First Ward - Shoalhaven City Council

Bridge Road, Nowra NSW 2541

Think aquaponics might have made a genuine ally in the Shoalhaven today...

The other good piece of news ... was that after six months of bearaucratic nonsense and inaction... the "Skills Garden" grant proposal is scheduled to commence 1st semester 2010... and monies have been approved for "aquaponics consultancy"....
