It's the second forum I ever joined (after fieldlines.com) in however many years I've been online for (yahoo had nearly 20,000 links the first time I visited). Now I have around 50 forums for my research, and it occurs to me I'll need well over a thousand more at this rate.

Perhaps BYAP could just start a heliostat, pastry, and another 108 new sections so I don't have to search around all the time

But really it's no surprise, it sure is a nice place to hang out.

If anything, I think you should push your shop a little harder. Lots of users don't even realise you have a shop. I don't think anyone would mind a sticky at the top of a thread advertising a special, or an add banner somewhere. Especially if its a sticky. You can always ignore it unless it's something that interests you.

I'm not talking about a scrolling flashing banner that talks. But I cant imagine anyone is going to hate the place because there is an ad in the margin. And it's not as if the products you sell are things we're not interested in.

I bet if you did a survey asking if anyone would care, everyone would say they'd be happy to be offered a special every now and again, as long as they didn't have to read it if it didn't interest them.

Yeah, I'm not a big one on adverts in the forum.. We do mention the mags when they come out, along with other bits and pieces. plus it wasn't that long ago I added the menu for the shop and other areas of the main website to the top of the page..

I dont think anyone would mind a monthly special type thing just under the banner. It doesnt have to be a shameless plug. You guys provide a fantastic service to everyone here, some self promotion wont bother anyone.

I am hoping to have my order into you guys in the next week or so
