I have recently busted out an old driveway, I have excessive concrete from this task.
Is it compatible to use some of this material in the grow beds, chemically speaking?

Respectfully,
Pete

It would not be advised due to the lime content amongst other things.
User: Creative1 is our resident concrete expert, you could PM him, but I'm certain the answer would not be favourable.

Ditto... it would drag your pH severely...

i would be really scared of it. from what all it may have leeched from the soil in all them years of laying there

concrete itself is bad enough but my luck would be , that it had been planted over some contaminated superfund cleanup site

we all know that florida land developers have no moral conciou$ and will build your new home over old bombing ranges, former creosote
plant land , medical landfills, pcb pits and such as that.

let TCL direct you to "pebble junction" in sanford florida and go ahead and get the correct rocks. they might need cleaning but never wear out :D

with respects, johnny

While we're on the topic.... It's filled with vitamins and surface area. Would it be bad to use Total cereal as grow bed media?

Recycling concrete I'd say no.
Think about the contaminants on the top first...
oil, coolant, sealants, possible azy from brakes etc!

I don't think it is worth the risk, considering you will be eating stuff
grown in it!

Goodness knows what could have been included in the mix....

Sorry

cereal - What chemicals might have been used on them?

Hang on: Cereal, as in grain?
wouldn't it rot, or grow or something?

do we need media so badly that we'd attempt to grow it?
hmmm building an AP system to build and AP system...
But like designing a robot to build a robot, isn't that how terminator started? and The Matrix?

Thanks for bringing that up about cereal, i was just thinking about what to do over the winter if i didn't have vegies growing.
Maybe i could grow shoots of cereal to feed my lambs until they are big enough for my BBQ.
Any ideas of growing shoots would be great

I had an idea a long time ago about just using seeds AS the grow media. Survival of the fittest, and the rest end up being surface area. :colors: This is independent of cost though.
