. This is a great idea for local producers. Some AP producers may even be able to benefit from it. https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/17 ... -australia . |

It's not a bad idea. But I think they are seriously stretching for wanting $30,000. It's an app, a 15 year old with a computer could create it in their bedroom after school. Plus gumtree already has lots of local fresh produce on there if you search for it. I think this mob do it better too: http://www.ripenear.me/ |

I spoke to app developers a couple of years ago. For the app I wanted created, which was reasonably basic supposedly, but well above my skill level, it was $3k... but one of the developers told me about apps they'd developed for big business and govt dept's that ran up to $60k and $70k, even one that was $120k |

I agree not all 15 year olds are created equally. The one they want is basically a lot of google integration, all the framework for what they want already exists. So things like google maps exists, so they don't need to code it up, and the plotting feature to add landmarks already exists. It's just a matter of adding the library, then it's just a matter of making it pretty, and user friendly and for the different parts of the app to talk to each other. And probably a little bit of head banging for fiddly bits, but it's not all that complicated. And some sort of server to store everything. It's the updating function that they'd run into issues. I don't think random people are going to add when a road stall is open and shut. So people would turn up to nothing available (similar problem to the website I linked). I am talking about Android apps though, I have no idea what's involved with apple apps. The android app development software is pretty user friendly, with masses of tutorials around. And the forums are filled with lots of helpful people. If they were talking about a game with lots of artwork, and things like that, it'd be a different story. |

Nice idea, though sounds a little more like it should be a plug in or just an another aspect of something else.. Really doubles up and overlaps on the idea of ripenear.me. I just feel like it's something that wouldn't get a lot of use as an app because it's too specific. Would be a brilliant addition to something like the wikicamps app, I love wikicamps. |
