heard a little blurb on npr the other day (national public radio) about an aquaponic farm startup in youngstown ohio.. they're working with the city (they got land for the "system" and an "offsite house" for an office), and had something on kickstarter (i knew that was bound to happen!).. i couldn't find many details.. 300 gal ft growing tilapia in a bldg that had the roof replaced with greenhouse glass.. i did hear that the kids running the place based it on will allen's growing power.. and it's a non-profit.. i can see that in this area fish farming is starting up, and i expect it will grow, i'm just still up in the air about tilapia in this area (with "usually" snowy winters) oh.. the name is "Idora" i thought the kickstarter thing was interesting; http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/934 ... a?ref=live |
