Here's a site - I looked around their website, I could find no pictures showing an aquaponics system (just a closeup of some lettuce growing in a raft system) yet they are offering aquaponic classes. Anybody know anything about them?

Looks more like just some dope growing hydroponics stuff more than AP per se, due to half the products being lighting related.

I've modified my drinking game, now you take another drink whenever you see the word "workshop"

Was that comment in reference to the Purple whatever site?... or another site that I missed?... I didn't see any lighting, hydroponic stuff, or reference to dope on that site... at least not with the link I followed.

:dontknow:

the purple people look legit. Seems like they got into the rainwater catchment racket and started gardening as well. Their little class is 115 bucks but they serve punch and pie. Pricey for punch and pie but if they go through a little set up preparing people that want to be spoon fed info on how to set up a little system 115 is not bad. Not as bad as the guys selling the little manual with a few stolen pics in it for 7.50 that just spam the internets all day.

I noticed that the purple people have their step by step take home manual (a $99 value) so you're really only paying an additional $16 for the workshop. I don't know where they came up with that figure which was on KATU's website (local channel) but they do appear to be a legitimate business based on having a business license. Must be one hell of a manual :)

The aquaponics products page is some grow bags, coco coir and hydroton media, and a bunch of lights and timers. Same thing as on any eBay hydro site. Looks very hydro IMO, even if the link is titled AP.

Well see it's easy for a business to get an account with one of the Hydroponics wholesale outlets and sell all the standard Hydroponic Products (even drop ship.) It's quite a bit harder to find a wholesale supplier for specifically Aquaponic Products because I don't think a wholesale warehouse for such a thing exists. Aquatic Eco Systems would be the closest and they don't give that good a wholesale prices to really make it easy for re-sellers to buy from them.

Always seems many people want to get in the game. Heck even me, Who wants to take a class from TCLynx, the Aquaponics Nutcase? I'll show you how to grow edible yard art that will have the neighbors calling code enforcement on you. I mean that has to be unsanitary growing salad in your front yard rather than buying it from the industrial food machine.

Definitely nothing personal here Dave, I'm just curious as to your attitude toward these people, but...

I can't find any hydroponic specific products on their site. Of the few products listed on their "Aquaponics products" page, all of them can be, and are used in aquaponics. Coco Coir and expanded clay are used in AP, as are the lights... by our fellow AP enthusiasts that live in colder climes and are forced to grow indoors half the year.

There are no "hydroponic" specific products... and definitely no "dope growing" specific products.

There are no hydroponic nutrients... at all. No "Yield enhancing" additives, not even any carbon filters. Not much of of a "Hydroponic dope growing" site.

Even if they did sell hydroponic equipment, where's the problem in that?... can a store not sell both aquaponic and hydroponic equipment?

P.S. What's a "Grow bag"?

I see nothing to do with fish on this products page.
http://www.pdxpurple.com/shop#ecwid:cat ... ort=normal

Why call it aquaponics except that it is more trendy? Why not just call it hydroponics if you're growing indoor plants with lights and fans and EC meters?

Who is building aeroponic AP systems? Or even using little dripper outlets for AP systems? Seems like a mismatch of terms and products to me.

A grow bag is a mesh bag you can fill with rocks, dirt, or clay, and grow in hydro or not. it replaces the standard container. They drain well, have handles for the larger sizes, and fold up nicely when not in use. Other then that not sure what good they are for.

grow bags are very nice as they will air prune roots and allow for great drainage. Good for plants that don't mind heavy watering but hate to sit in it.

If they do sell "dope growing" hydro gear I think the state they are in allows it for medical purposes.

It looks like most of their business is just water catchment and in their videos they don't even show fish. The lettuce roots they show look a little dark like they might be in fish water as opposed to clean hydro water.

TCLynx should start giving classes as she would probably teach well and give links to sites like this after spoon feeding people info. Info is worth what people will pay for it but sites like these are worth tens of thousands of dollars in info just people are kind enough here to distribute it gratis. thanks.

Where I live, if you want to talk about growing drugs, people use the word "tomato" instead of cannabis. Since tomato are almost identical to growing cannabis in their requirements for ferts and soil conditions. I always have caution of any website, or person, that only talks about growing tomato plants in their system. Other then that, i don't have any red flags. some of the best organic ferts have a cannabis leaf on it, because those are the only people who are going to spend top dollar for the best product.

PS I had a license for cannabis use (for a good reason, too), but since family grew, its not worth the potential Federal jail time.
