There's quite a few Perth based hydroponic businesses beginning to offer "aquaponics" systems...

As there are cropping up in other states...

Most of them don't really understand the basic principles behind aquaponics... other than the idea that you have a tank for the fish... and a container filled with media as a grow bed...

Well at least they are catching on to the idea of the media filled grow bed. I hate when people simply figure you can pump from the fish tank to NFT pipes and then we get to sped hours trying to explain the need for filtration. At least adding a stand pipe is relatively simple in many cases.

Yep, good old Max Meyers.... Norcal Aquaponics... the same bloke that was involved with the "training" for the "Green Society" and Casey James... back on the other page...

Max teamed up with another permaculturalist... and built an "aquaponics system" at Uriah High School...

Which is their one and only reference point.... and qualification to now offer "certifications" and "commercial" aquaponics system designs...

He's the bloke that was doing the training for the other mob down in Nicruagara and Costa Rica....

Which now becomes their basis for "commercial aquaponics system" designs... and "certification" courses etc...

Yeah the good old commercial aquaponics training packages when you don't have a commercial aquaponics system and have never built one or operated one.

Gee, with so many people either certified in commercial aquaponics or designed/built large aquaponics around the world, I'm surprised aquaponics is not main stream yet...
:shifty:

But thats the problem. They're marketing to the un-educated in this area. If you don't know about AP how can you tell whether you're being fed reliable data or BS?

when i first started looking into ap after hearing about it from customers i did the old google and utube searches and naturally these sites all turned up.As the info looked good and being ignorant to the facts you dont question them.
you see all these great pics and the statements are all the similar throughout the sites so you start to believe them ,without knowing that they have ripped off someone elses pics, system or knowledge
Its just lucky i am broke all the time(sorry married and three kids) or i could be ripped off too
Funny thing was with the old computer it would not let me on the byap site it kept coming up error 404 or something like the.

lifeaquatic.com DOT au I thought twice before adding this because he is local to us and people may think I'd just list it because he's a competing business. But really.. He's selling systems and running workshops on how to build systems using IBC's (international beverage containers), so that you can stock Barramundi which are evidently an omnivorous fish. He's using Sylvias nitrogen diagram and promotes excessive stocking levels.. All these things are fine if it's just in a backyard, but teaching others for $, is not good.
