EB - You might want to think about not linking to their sites, your forums are very popular, and as such they have a high "google ranking". If you link to their site then they get higher ranks in google searches because a very reputable sight (one with lots of links to it) has a link to it. That is if you've allowed google to search these forums.

I met a guy at the local markets who claimed he'd been doing Aquaponics since the early 90's. Turns out he'd had barra in the shed and was occasionally dumping the water onto the veggies. The whole "recirculation" thing seemed to have been lost on him.

May I suggest having links to reputable sellers rather than the shiesters? You could incorperate a "get BYAP gear in your area" on your webpage which links to some of them. It would certainly improve their search rankings, whilst hopefully shifting the shiesters onto page 4 or 5. Something to consider anyway.

That's a good point to remember Joel - I only trade links with quality sites as it can really affect your ranking in the searches. Obviously other sites can link to you without you knowing, and these are trackable, but as long as you have a number of high ranked sites linked to you, the crappy ones have a decreased effect.

So as Gemmell said, you're helping these guys credibility by putting them up here. Could probably get around that just by mentioning them as blah-blah.com (dropping the http:// and not making it a hyperlink).

+1 I think breaking the link is a good idea (we can still cut and paste into a browser and find it to make an opinion.)

Seems these people have even more websites they are involved with.

www.highdesertshaman dot com

and

www.biocybernaut dot com

The biocybernaut one in interesting, it's "Advanced Brain Wave Biofeedback Training using Neurofeedback " and only $4,695 USD for a Two Day Sample, or $15,000 for the 7 day training.

I'm sure they've got a plethora of downloadable (for a price) e-books as well EB.... standard "get-rich-quick" shysters internet template approach to business...

A couple more....

http:// rdaquafarms.com/aquaponicsSystem.html ... 2 & 1/2 barrel system... fair price at $259

But... uses perlite as the growbed medium.... and reckons that "This system will support 30 or more full size tilapia."

Yeah sure....

Then there's good old Colle.... the "fish don't fart"... "disabled veteren".... Portable Farms bloke....

http:// - portablefarms.com/index.php

Who pioneered aquaponics about 37 years ago.... NOT...

He's been busy for the last 27 years "mentoring"/"coaching" top business execs...

http:// mycoach.com/aboutus.htm

Who gets incredible production from his AP kits....

http://%20 - portablefarms.com/images/FACT%20SHEET%20FOR%20PFAS2.pdf

Quote:
A single 6' x 8' (1.8m x 2.5m) unit produces 400 vegetables and 100 lbs (45 kgs) of fish per year
A single 10' x 20' (3m x 6m) unit produces 1,100 vegetables and 400 lbs (180 kgs) of fish per year
A single 20' x 30' (6m x 9m) two tank unit produces 3,600 vegetables and 1,400 lbs (635 kgs) of fish per year
A single 90' x 120' (30m x 30m) unit produces 60,000 vegetables and 23,000 lbs (10,400 kgs) of fish per year

Funny how all these "aquaponics pioneers" of several decades... are always a... "successful entrepreneur, businessman and consultant"... you'd think that if they were all so successful... they'd be retired... living off their successes...

And as a "successful businessman and entrepenaur".... one wonders why he's messing around with a "system"... that has a ROI .... of 2-8 years...

Which in itself just goes to show what a crap system he's designed... or how "over-priced" they are...

That 2 1/2 barrel system gets me, there doesn't appear top be any support under the growbed, just a half barrel sitting across two upright barrels.... :geek:

Think we can add aquaponicshq.toad to the list. I got moderated over there for pointing out safety issues with misleading advice given away as gospel based on a system that does not even exist. Now I find out they are still manipulating my posts and even sunk to the depth of re-writing my signature on posts. I've never had that type of low life treatment on forums. And thats the only thing I think that place will ever be No 1 at. I can't recommend that type of Nazi information manipulation and blatant censorship. But it's good to know I made an impression.
