Had a major disaster in my system, and killed off almost all my fish. (Long story... I'll give details if you are interested in my sad tale...) I have a grand total of ONE tilapia left. Anyway, I have a handful of goldfish I've added to the system purely to try to keep the plants alive. However, I really want to get the system stocked up again with tilapia (and/or catfish). Anybody have any ideas on a source for one or both of these fish types in the DFW area in Texas? If no source for tilapia or cats, any suggestions on a source for another breed of fish that would be good in a North Texas system? Please PM me and I'll get your message right away. (I'll check back here, too... just not as quick. Thanks! Don |

Hey, Just Don Did you ever get your fish you were looking for. I am going away for a couple months on a job and will need to get rid of aprox 20 blue tilapia around 3 inches in length. Free to someone with a good system. Interested |

Don, Blue tilapia are illegal in texas without a permit. ref: http://www.tpwd.state.tx.us/huntwild/wi ... atic.phtml There is a provision that allows for mozambique tilapia to be kept on private waters but it's illegal to transport them (alive) so technically you have to have someone transport them for you. What you choose to do is your business but you should not discuss illegal activity on a public forum. I recommend catfish, large mouth bass and/or bluegill in this area. I am currently working with hybrid striped bass with what seems to be good success but i have not yet gone all 4 seasons. I expect them to be a great choice too. brian |
