Thank you for your enquiry.
The cost of Silver Perch are 2" $4.90 ea. Barramundi 2-3" $3.00 ea.
For Silver Perch we could not provide such large a quantity of 400 - 500.

Email from GP, I reckon everyone must be chasing SP at almost $5 each, and at 2" i would never grow them out in time for Trout, sort of stuck for a summer fish, barra at $3 is ok I suppose, but growing them out may also be a problem, may go fishless and see what the water temp does this year, rick said his was up to 20c when we got a couple of hot days, mine was at 14 then, I may be able to go with trout all year

Nocky the barramundi are $15-00 per kilo so why not buy bigger ones and then you have a feed ready sooner rather than later. Last year we got some plate sized ones for around $8-00 each I think. Was good value at the time.

Yep, spoke to Carey today, he said he has silvers. Said he can't see himself running out of them, and he has installed extra tanks at his farm so that in future he can have more fish available, on call for those that want them...

Can someone advise approx. what size the silver perch needs to be bought at so that it gets sufficient growth during these couple of months before the winter hits Perth next season? Obviously the intent is to ensure that the fishes stay alive during winter and finish their 18 mth grow out period by the end of next Summer.

Getting them at 100mm would be preferable... but reality seems to be that many might end up with 25-40mm new season spawn around xmas... or even mid-january...

All you can do is feed them up and hope for a mild winter... or be prepared to heat, or try and keep some heat in your tank for as long as possible...

Hey Rupe, I had 20 - 40mm perch survive fine this winter, down to 7 or 8 degrees. Didnt loose any perch at all.

but they're still 40mm? I think I will give 20 Barra a go just to see if they will work in Narrogin, dbird tried them last year with little success and he has a very humid rain forest in his back yard, either that or buy some bigger perch, I reckon trout would grow 10 months down here, don't have the time to ice them for the other 2

It's bad enough trying to keep trout alive into summer, let alone trying to keep barra alive going into winter.

Yes the silvers are still small, but they are growing very rapidly now.
