Post subject:  Best aggregate size inquiry

Good day everyone! I tried to search the forum for best aggregate size for root development. Perhaps I am not doing search properly.

I am currently using 1/4 rocks used in construction with good growth but I also wonder if some plant development are restricted by the greater compaction of rocks compared to 3/8 or a 1/2? I am planning a system upgrade and will be buying the aggregates in bulk, so I would appreciate any advice please.

I have seen where it is recommended that you use 19 mm or three quarter as it allows the roots to get down better . I have got smaller , about 12 mm and I think it is too small and packs down pretty hard. It tends to clog up sooner but still seems to work .

Thank you for your input. I share the same view and experience at the moment that's why I'm asking those who have more experience. I'm at beginner level
